Advent Poem III
The week of joy
Not only is there hope and peace to be had, but there is joy! Lord, let me not forget to laugh in delight at how wonderful you are. This week I’ve been thinking about how beautiful the red of holly berries are. The holly and the ivy. The crown and the blood and the evergreen of eternal life. And such a joy to behold in the cold of winter.
Here’s this weeks poem on Joy:
Joy
The earth is plunged in cold,
the icy gray of winter wraps
its arms around us.
And yet—while spring is still
a distant dream, snow decorates
the evergreen, and shining
in the glimmering cold,
bright red holly blooms,
and the covering of pure white snow
is thus made sweeter
to our eyes.
